Devotees of Guru Ram Rai Darbar bring the new flagpole from Mothrowala in Dehradun

Devotees of Sri Guru Ram Rai Darbar carrying a new 90 feet high new holy flagpole (Sri Jhanda Sahib) reached Sri Darbar Sahib with here today.

The flagpole will be raised under the mentorship of Sajjadanashin of Shri Darbar Sahib, Mahant Devendra Dass ji Maharaj. Lakhs of devotees are likely to reach Sri Darbar Sahib by March 17 to witness the ceremony.

Dehradun residents showered flowers on the devotees to welcome them coming with the new flagpole, and served refreshment to them. The new flagpole has been made of ‘Sal’ wood. Several artistes were busy preparing the new Sri Jhanda Sahib at Sri Guru Ram Rai Inter College, Mothrowala, for the last two months. It will be raised on March 17, marking the beginning of the Jhanda Mela.

The holy flagpole is being changed after a period of six years. Great enthusiasm was seen at Sri Darbar Sahib since Tuesday morning.

Thousands of devotees from Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and other states reached Sri Darbar Sahib on Monday evening to be a part of the fair. Dehradun residents, especially youngsters, in large numbers also took part in the procession.
