DEHRADUN: On the first day of the budget session of the recently elected Uttarakhand assembly, Governor K K Paul on Friday outlined the road map for the state’s development. With the thrust on tourism, education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, the Governor said that his government would work for the overall development of the Himalayan state.
The issue of making Gairsan state capital has remained a bone of contention between the BJP and the Congress. The Governor said that efforts would be made to improve the infrastructure of Gairsain and with the consent of everyone, work would be initiated on making it summer capital of the state.
Spelling out the priorities of the BJP government, which was elected with an overwhelming majority, the governor said that the aim is to carry out overall development for the welfare of people. The aim is to provide good governance to the state and I hope the state reaches new heights in the coming times.
Keeping in mind the state’s tourism potential, the governor said that adventure and medical tourism can be promoted to boost the sector. He further said that said ancient temples would be restored and more facilities will be created around them for the convenience of pilgrims.
To boost industries in Uttarakhand, Paul said that his government would create a positive atmosphere which would bring new industrial sectors to the state. This in process would improve the job opportunities in the state.
For the employees under the unorganized sector, the state government intends to bring them under the ambit of DeenDayal Upadhyay security insurance scheme. The sector includes laborers, people working in hotels and shops, domestic aid, rickshaw pullers and newspaper hawkers.
The governor maintained that improving the education setup in the state is no less than a challenge and the state government is determined to take some major steps for the sector. He pointed out that boarding schools would be opened in each districts for the girl child. At the same time, the government intends to provide economic resources to meritorious students hailing from financially weaker sections.
To improve the health services, the state government aims to strengthen the ambulance service and provide better facilities at government hospitals.He also read out the commitment of the state government to encourage research in astrology, architecture, ancient Sanskrit texts and the ritual aspect of the Hinduism.
