Daily wage worker held for murder

With the arrest of one person, Dehradun police claimed to have solved the murder of a man whose body was found under mysterious circumstances near a canal at Keshavpur in Doiwala in Dehradun on January 21.

Superintendent of police (SP) Rural, Shweta Choubey, said, “After two days of investigation, we learnt that Om Prakash was last seen with Pandit at Keshavpur. During interrogation, Pandit confessed to killing the man inside his house at Keshavpur and then dumped the body near the canal.”

The accused, Raju Pandit, lives in Keshavpur basti in Doiwala and works as a daily wage worker. The deceased, identified as Om Prakash, who hailed from Rampur district in Uttar Pradesh, was also a daily wage worker and known to the accused. According to police, Pandit hit Prakash on the head with a wooden plank after the duo had an argument.
