Indian Medical Association (IMA) has won IMA award for best community service

The Dehradun chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA) has won IMA award for best community service.

In the same function the state secretary of the IMA Uttarakhand, Dr D D Chaudhury also received the Dr Satyapal Oja memorial award for his achievements in the activities of medical fraternity.

The award was presented to the president of Dehradun chapter of IMA, Dr JP Sharma by the national president of IMA, Dr K K Agarwal in a glittering function held in New Delhi on IMA day.

The President of the Dehradun unit of the IMA Dr Sharma said that the activities like organising many health camps, awareness campaign on national tobacco prevention day, and an awareness week for cancer diseases were recognized by the IMA at the national level in form of the award. Similarly the Dehradun chapter conducts free treatment of the patients visiting its dispensary located in the campus of IMA Dehradun. More than 30 patients avail the facility of free treatment a day in this dispensary. The IMA has 24 chapters in the state. In Dehradun more than 600 doctors are part of IMA. Expressing happiness on the award the State Secretary of the IMA, Dr D D Chaudhury said that the award would inspire other chapters to organize activities of community services.
