At the same time there is also a need for taking the youth energy towards the right direction, said Uttarakhand Governor Krishan Kant Paul. He was speaking at the national youth day programme organised to mark the 154 birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda at the Ramkrishna Mission Ashram in Dehradun on Thursday.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Governor said that the aim of society should be to facilitate the development of such responsible and honest character which is based on the foundation of a rich history and can develop a meaningful view of the future. He said the celebrating Vivekananda’s birth anniversary as the national youth day is very apt as he has emerged as a source of inspiration for the youth.
Paul said, “Swamiji was the architect of a spiritual bridge connecting the East to the West on the foundations of Vedanta. He used to say that internally, the youth should have strong will power, the inner strength of internal clearness and courage to enable them face all types of challenges and resolve all problems. He used to say often that out thinking should always be high and best in order to achieve the supreme.” Regarding primary education, the governor threw light upon Vivekananda’s view, stating that he used to consider education to be the means of rebuilding society. Education is futile if it cannot help in alleviating the travails of the public or develop character while instilling a sense of service, the Swami used to say. Paul further said that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had written in his autobiography, influenced by Vivekananda’s thoughts that Vivekananda’s tour of India had created a wave of self confidence among the masses. In order to tackle the various types of challenges in the current times, the youth will have to come forward with the power of positivity.
