PREPARATIONS FOR R-DAY CELEBRATIONS AT PARADE GROUND GO ON

The district officials in Dehradun remained engaged in giving final shape to the preparation for Republic Day celebrations to be held at Parade Ground on Thursday. Uttarakhand Governor Dr KK Pal would unfurl the tricolour and inspect the parade on the occasion. Dehradun district magistrate Ravinath Raman and senior superintendent of police Sweety Aggarwal took stock of the preparations being made for the Republic Day parade at Parade Ground on Tuesday.

Cultural teams from various districts will perform while school students would also participate in the programme in large number.Following enforcement of model code of conduct, display of tableaux highlighting development schemes being run by the various departments for the welfare of the people will not be three this year.

Police station officers have been directed to conduct vehicle checking drives in their respective areas apart from deploying additional police forces at important government buildings and institutions. The police officers have been directed to start checking drives at crowded and important places like airports, railway stations, bus stations, cinema houses and hotels. Besides, bomb disposal squad and dog squad teams are being pressed into service at important places in the city.

DM Raman directed the public works department executive engineer Devendra Shah to make all the arrangements, including pitching  pandals for VVIPs or VIPs and providing water- proof tents for the visitors at the venue.  

SSP Sweety Aggarwal inspected full dress rehearsal of the  parade at Parade Ground. Later, she met the senior police officers and directed them to ensure fool- proof security in the district in view of the ensuing celebrations. Police station officers have been directed to be vigilant and alert apart from intensifying police patrolling in their jurisdictional limits.
