At least two persons died and many others were injured when the bus they were in plunged into a deep gorge at Gaza motor road around eight kms away from Tehri district headquarters on Wednesday.
According to SP, 21 among the injured were rushed to the nearest local hospital.
One of the deceased has been identified as Jai Chand, 52, resident of Udena (Gaza), Tehri district.
The identity of the other deceased was yet to be known during the time of filing the report. Tehri circle officer Hira Singh Rauthan said that SDRF personnel and local police had been pressed into service at Gaza to rush the injured to the hospital.
The Tehri superintendent of police said that the accident occurred when around 35 persons were returning in a bus from New Tehri town after attending the submission of nomination papers by the BJP candidate Subodh Uniyal from Narendranagar constituency.
