
Senior Nephrologist of the hospital Dr Alok Kumar informed media persons hereon Tuesday that Satpal Singh (47 years), a resident of Saharanpur was on dialysis for the last One and half years due to which he was also unable to perform his duties. Consequently, he became so weak that it became difficult for him to even walk. Dr Kumar said that wife of the patient, Neelam offered her kidney and the transplant was done on December 27, 2016.
The doctors of Mahant Indiresh Hospital here have performed a successful kidney transplant operation. The hospital authorities claim that it is the second successful kidney transplant operation in less than six months.
“In Modern Medical Science, a minor incision is given and the kidney transplant is done via laparoscopic method. The team of doctors successfully transplanted the kidney during an operation that lasted for four hours. The kidney of the patient is functioning normally after the transplant. The kidney donor is also quite healthy,’’ he said.
Apart from Dr Kumar the team included Nephrologists Dr Vivek Ruhela, Urologists Dr. Vivek Vijjan and Dr. Vimal Kumar Dixit and Transplant Co-coordinator Sushma Kothiyal.
