‘SANSADHAN HUMARA, SHRAM HAMARA, MUNAFA HAMARA’ MOVEMENT START BY CHETNA ANDOLAN

Seeking answers to vital questions which political parties and candidates need to answer during the Vidhan Sabha election 2017, the Chetna Andolan will start a big movement on the issue of “sansadhan humara, shram hamara, munafa hamara” (our resource, our labour, our profit). Addressing the media at the Press Club here on Thursday, Trepan Singh Chauhan of the Chetna Andolan said that the people of this State have some questions for those contesting these elections. On these and othe issues, the Chetna Andolan will hold a convention in Dehradun on February 7 and call representatives of all the political parties to state their positions on the vital issues facing the state and its people.

This process can start with hydel projects of under two megawatts (already reserved for panchayats) and other projects with a cost of  under Rs one crore. In urban and plain areas construction and development projects should be similarly given to producer companies composed of construction workers. This too can start with projects of amounting in cost to under Rs. one crore. Necessary financial and technical assistance should be provided by the government to these companies rather than to private companies as at present. All hydel and mining projects in the state should be taxed at a rate of 50 per cent and this revenue be handed over to Gram Sabhas for expenditure for women’s needs / development. Until community rights have been recognised for every village in the mountains under the Forest Rights Act of 2006, no projects should take place on forest land. “On these and other issues, we  will hold a convention calling representatives of all parties to clarify their stance of these vital issues and depending on the conclusions reached at the convention, the Chetna Andolan will plan its future actions,” he added.
