A 24-year-old young man hit by a PAC bus dies on spot : Haridwar

A young Man hit by a PAC bus in BHEL sector 4 died on the spot on Wednesday evening. The driver escaped with the bus after the accident. Over a hundred people gathering there protested against it and blocked traffic on BHEL’s Middle Road.

Manish, a B.Tech. students, was son of Chandra Pal, a BHEL employee who lives at Aneki village near BHEL, police sources said.

According to reports, Manish, the deceased, was standing on the roadside near barrier no.7 opposite Payal Cinema when a PAC bus ran over him, killing him on the spot. The driver ran off with the bus, it was alleged. “An FIR in the case has been registered under sections 279 and 304 (A). A police team has been sent to arrest the driver. His name is not yet known,” circle officer (sadar) JP Juyal told.

The police had tough time persuading them to lift the blockade. Local political leaders including MLA Adesh Chauhan, Ambarish Kumar and Prashant Rai reached the spot and pacified the mob. The agitators demanded compensation to the deceased’s family.
