School-KV FRI shutting down : For saving the ‘KV FRI’ school students took to the social media

DEHRADUN: The clamour for saving the ‘KV FRI’ school is building up and on Friday, the school students took to the social media to plead the prime minister, Narendra Modi to take note of their plight and save the school.

“Respected Modi sir, please save our school-KV FRI from shutting down. Our school won the cleanest school premises in the country award recently and was acknowledged by you and it is one of the best schools in the city as well. We hope our parents , former students and you are able to save it” said Palchin Bhenwal, a class 5 student.

The school premises reverberated with the sound of the kids shouting, ‘Modiji humare school ko bachao’ (please save our school) while their parents came to pick them up as school closed for the day by afternoon.

Another concerned parent, Mohammad Salim said, “We intend to fight till the very end to save the school. In fact, over 400 of the 1400 parents have already joined hands to support in this fight. We are active on social media to garner more support”

Meanwhile, Vijay Giri Goswami, a parent who is spearheading the campaign to save the school said, ” Students urged the prime minister live on Facebook to help out in saving the school. The only problem is of funds crunch since the funding by ICFRE has come down to merely 24 percent this year leaving the school with lack of funds to run smoothly for long”

Meanwhile, another post hung on a tree in front of the school, it read–
‘KV FRI Parents help desk’ and it had few contact numbers urging parents to join hands to save the school.

There was a notice stuck outside the school gates stating, ‘No fresh admission in class I and VI in the academic session 2017-18 commencing from April 1. The school is liable to withdraw the classes in a phased manner because of administrative reasons.’
