Youngsters vote for candidates/party which promised, ‘Job prospects/employment creation’ and development of the state

DEHRADUN: In Uttarakhand, out of the nearly 75 lakh voters registered for voting, over 41 lakh are below the age of 40 and many youngsters here are first time voters. There are nearly 1, 35, 193 youngsters in the 18-19 age-bracket, while 20, 67,364 are in the 20-29 age-bracket .First time voters across the city and most of them confided that they voted mainly for the candidates/party which promised, ‘Job prospects/employment creation’ and development of the state.It is said that, it is the young voters who hold the courage to change the tides of the society and bring in the requisite zeal to overhaul the things and improve any system and with a huge population of youth in the state, it is imperative that their voices and choices are counted.Sweta Lina Swain, 21, a BA student was all smiles as she voted for the first time in her life.

She said, “Youngsters definitely can make a change if they want. I think the most important issue which not just me but all youngsters are voting here for is employment generation. The youngsters in Uttarakhand want more job prospects so that we don’t need to head to Delhi or other bigger cities”Reiterating this, another first time voter, Sarbjot Singh , 22 said, “Obviously the prime concern for youngsters is employment.
